City and Guilds Teacher Development – Sia and General Education

The City and guilds 7303, 7407, 1886 qualifications are currently the industry benchmark and minimum requirement for people who want to work as trainers in the UK. The qualifications acquired are somewhat generic and often appeal to people with a professional background or vocational interest in the following fields: Security, first aid, all CIEH, ASET, BIIAB and city and guilds courses. The following is a short explanation of each course and the main areas they focus on. City and guilds 7303 offers adequate preparation for people who want to develop skills and acquire the right knowledge in the lifelong learning sector (PTLLS) City guilds 703 (C&G 7303) is more of a stepping stone which replaces the C&G 7302 and micro-teaching element acquired in the old certificate in adult education teaching (7307 stage 1). C&G 7303 enables candidates to deliver training. This course is designed to contribute towards the knowledge and understanding for the Further Education National Training Organization also known as F.E.N.T.O. or contribute towards the occupational standards of the Employment National Training Organization also known as EMPNTO. These occupational standards are also the framework that underpin the C&G 7303 award. City and Guilds 1886 (C&G 1886) is a level 3 certificate in conflict management training, the purpose of this city and guilds 1886 scheme is to provide a qualification for those who want to train others to deal with any types of violence in the workplace (e.g. teach C&G 1884). It is a qualification [...]

Executive Protection Training New War Zone Bodyguard Protection Close Protection Training Tips

During the current recession many bodyguards employed in the executive protection jobs sector are looking to make the transition into providing bodyguard protection in one or more of the war zone regions. Every professional close protection officer knows that conventional close protection training and/or bodyguard training can never prepare you for war zone executive protection services. This is only for a serious executive protection specialist. Given there are tens of thousands of new executive protection training recruits graduating from close protection training programmes in just about most countries every year, it is wise to carefully evaluate your long term bodyguard training goals. It’s no secret that although the executive protection services industry is a huge growth sector of the security industry, there are far too many bodyguards chasing the high end, highly paid executive protection jobs. One of the less crowded areas of bodyguard protection is that of war zone protective service operations. The main reason for this is, that few of the bodyguard and close protection training academies know how to train a close protection officer to survive and thrive in a war zone hostile environment. Security experts and close protection specialists find it quite amusing when reading Resume or Curriculum Vitae from conventionally trained bodyguards claiming to be an executive protection specialist, even though they have never serviced a fee paying VIP client in anything higher than a low to medium risk contract. One thing is certain, and that is any close protection officer with only basic [...]

Female Bodyguard War Zone Close Protection Course Cyprus & Body Guard Jobs

In the last ten years there has been a significant increase in the hiring of a female bodyguard. Much of this is attributed to the improvement of close protection training for women bodyguards seeking high paid body guard jobs. Given the increase in bodyguard protection for war zone regions, it was only a matter of time before a war zone close protection course was designed in Cyprus for a female bodyguard tasked with protective service operations. I have extensive experience in close protection training in over forty different countries during my 20 year plus protective service operations career. I’ve lost count of the number of International bodyguards I have trained to become a professional close protection officer. It is without doubt running in the tens of thousands figure. Before I was recruited to run the ground Zero close protection special forces training facility in Alabama USA I used to maintain records of every close protection course I ran. Every 5 years I ran a strategic business review of my statistics. One of the most interesting facts was that during the first 5 year review a female bodyguard was virtually unheard of. In fact women bodyguards made up less than one percent of my close protection officer student base. My business partners soon identified there was a niche in the protective service operations arena for women bodyguards looking to fill the available body guard jobs. A conscious decision was made to encourage an increase in female bodyguard attendees on all [...]

SIA Close Protection Course Selection – Is Selection Really Necessary?

As a company who provide security training, I feel we have a responsibility to ensure that people who attend our Close Protection training course are fit for the role. Most training companies today are happy to take anyone’s money, teach them the very basics and then show them the door. As such, the security industry today is flooded with personnel who have no experience and generally no skill. This has had a knock on effect to the industry as a whole. Whereas the Close Protection industry was a once specialized area that you could only crack with hard work, it’s now open to anyone who can pay £1500 for a course. Looking in from the outside, my years of experience means nothing as I now have the same licence as the shelf-stacker from Tesco who fancied being a bodyguard, did a course and got a licence. So what has this done to the industry? The person who has just obtained his licence now need some experience. I have personally seen people offer their services to companies for free to get this experience. Some companies see this as an opportunity to create more profit, so they are happy to supply less-experienced security officers on tasks that may require a more suitable person. Once again, it’s the client who pays the price at the end of the day. With the influx of people into every licensing sector, the security industry standard has dropped significantly. It Starts With The Training Providers As [...]
